Grounding


Have you ever wanted to stop the anxiety you feel about something at work or wanted to make a decision with confidence about your future? Have you ever wanted to calm yourself and be more realistic in your thoughts? Walk with me, if you will, back to a time that you were outside. Close your eyes and imagine sitting on the earth next to a massive tree. Any old tree will do. What does it look like? What do you hear? What do you feel? What do you taste? What do you smell? Create an internal representation of being right there. Take four deep ha breaths. In through your nose out through your mouth with a “ha” sound. Lengthening the exhale each time so that it’s comfortable and longer. Now as you continue to breathe, with every breath you take, imagine your legs, like roots, growing deep into the soil. New shoots going wide and deep. Deeper than all the other roots of all the other trees. Twisting into the depth. Deep all the way to the core of the planet. Deeper holding onto the Earth. Creating the security to grow tall and sway with no fear of falling.


Breathe in the strength of the Earth.

Breathe in the stability of the Earth.

Breathe in the solidity of the Earth.

Breathe in the security of the Earth.

Release all the excess emotion you are carrying back to the Earth.


And now ask yourself, what was the problem?
